• The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. (Luke 4:18-19).

    FAITH IN THE ANOINTING

    Faith in the Anointing

Many of us have been taught to have faith in God’s written Word and yet the bible also teaches us to exercise faith in the anointing of the Holy Spirit (1 John 2:27).
The written word of God gives us general instruction, wisdom, and faith for life, but there are many specific decisions in life where we need God’s specific guidance (e.g. where to live, who to marry, timing of events, or what profession to undertake). This is where the Holy Spirit will lead us specifically into a wealthy place (Psalm 66:12).
Many Christians, and even men of God, have missed it at this point and rather than seeking God and waiting for his anointing to lead them have taken things into their own hands, used their own wisdom, and missed the perfect plan of the Lord.
The Holy Spirit has been given to us to lead us into the things God has prepared for us (1 Corinthians 2:9-14)
V9 God has prepared and made ready our future
V10 God discloses or reveals these things by his Spirit
V14 our natural soul nature does not accept or receive the things of the Spirit of God, they are absurd, silly and foolish to him. Neither can he know them as they are non-physically discerned, they are spiritually determined.
So the things God has for our lives are not understood through our physical senses, rather we know and discern them through our spirit. This is true for all the leadings of the spirit, even in our understanding of spiritual truth.
    1 John 2:26-27
These verses are written in the context of the discernment of truth. There is a spirit of antichrist that wants to seduce the church (1 John 2:18-20). The word Christ (Greek: Christos) means the anointed one. Jesus Christ means: Jesus the anointed one. Of course the Messiah is that anointed one. The spirit of antichrist is a spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus as the anointed one and also a spirit that does not respect and honour that same anointing Jesus has given to his church. V20 says ye have an unction (anointing) from the Holy One, and ye know all things. Obviously the anointing we have received gives us wisdom and perception and discernment.
Our faith and reliance, therefore, in matters of truth is not to rely totally on man. Rather, listen to the five fold ministry (Ephesians 4:11-12) and at the same time listen to the anointing of the Holy Spirit.
    John 16:13-15
The Holy Spirit is the one who guides us into all truth (the Word is truth John 17:17). The Holy Spirit speaks to our spirit concerning the truth of the Word of the Lord.
This helps us understand why there are doctrinal divisions in the body of Christ. It is because some Christians view God’s Word from an intellectual, soul, or natural way instead of allowing the Holy Spirit to reveal the Word.
This is why many reject unknown tongues because speaking in unknown tongues is foolishness to our natural mind (1 Corinthians 14:2). Little do the people know who reject tongues that tongues is precisely what they need to edify their spirit so they can better understand God’s Word (1 Corinthians 14:4)
King David always sought after God (1 Samuel 23:1-5). David did not lean to his own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6). David always inquired of the Lord and was a man after the Lords own heart (Acts 13:22)
In the Old Testament the Holy Spirit came upon the prophet, priest, and king. People had to go to the Old Testament prophet to get direction and instruction. This is not so in the New Testament. In New Testament the Holy Spirit indwells every believer and leads through the inward witness (Romans 8:14-16). Prophecy in the New Testament is for edification, exhortation and comfort (1 Corinthians 14:3), not direction.
The inward witness is a spiritual evidence inside our spirit by the Holy Spirit. This is how God leads us today in personal matters where the Scripture is silent (e.g. should I live in Singapore and support my church and missions or should I go overseas to be a missionary?) Only the Holy Spirit can guide you in such a matter.
Paul the apostle was lead by the Holy Spirit in his mission endeavours (Acts 16:6-15; Philippians 1:5; 4:15-19). God led Paul to establish this relationship with the Philippians by the Spirit and it proved to be a great blessing for all and for the furtherance of the gospel.
    Conclusion
God has an awesome plan for your life, to bring you into a wealthy place. The Holy Spirit has been given to us to help and guide us into the place God has prepared for us. The Holy Spirit leads us through the inward witness of his spirit inside our spirit. We must learn to become sensitive to our spirit and the voice of the Holy Spirit inside our spirit.
When God speaks to us in our spirit we need to learn to exercise faith in his leading. This is the anointing of God which is given to us to teach us all things. Developing faith in the anointing of the Lord will enable you to be led by his Spirit and save you from making many hurtful mistakes and will lead you into the riches of the abundance of God’s kingdom.
