• The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. (Luke 4:18-19).

WHAT IS JESUS DOING RIGHT NOW

what is JESUS doing right now

    INTRODUCTION:

If we had a telescope capable of peering into the highest heaven, what would we see Jesus doing right now. What is His present ministry?

    1. He Is Ruling from His Heavenly Throne.

    a. Mark 16:19, “So then, when the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God.”

    b. (Eph. 1:20) “ I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead, and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,”

    c. Phil. 2:9; “Therefore also God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him, the name which is above every name.”

    d. 1 Peter 3:22, speaking of Jesus says, “who is at the right hand of God, having gone into heavenlies, after angels and authorities and powers had been subjected to Him.”

    e. John Wesley wrote: “Jesus the Savior reigns / The God of truth and love; / When He had purged our stains / He took His seat above.”

    2. He Directs and Empowers His Church.

    a. Matt. 16:18,, “And I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not overpower it.”

    b. Ephesians 5:23-24, “…as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body. But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in every thing.”

    3. He Is Interceding for Believers.

    a. Rom. 8:34, “who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.”

    b. 1 John 2:1, “My little children, I am writing these things to you that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.”

    c. Heb. 2:17-18, “Therefore, He had to be made like His brethren in all things, that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For since He Himself was tempted in that which He has suffered, He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted.”

    d. Hebrews 7:24-25, “but He on the other hand, because He abides forever, holds His priesthood permanently. Hence, also, He is able to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.”

    4. He Is Preparing a Place for Us.

    a. John 14:1–3, “Let not your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”

    5. He Is Receiving the Souls of Those Who Die in Christ.

    a. Acts 7:54–59, “Now when they heard this, they were cut to the quick, and they began gnashing their teeth at him. But being full of the Holy Spirit, he gazed intently into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God; and he said, "Behold, I see the heavens opened up and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God." But they cried out with a loud voice, and covered their ears, and they rushed upon him with one impulse. And when they had driven him out of the city, they began stoning him, and the witnesses laid aside their robes at the feet of a young man named Saul. And they went on stoning Stephen as he called upon the Lord and said, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!"

    6. He is Being Praised by the inhabitants of Heaven. (Rev. 4-5).

Conclusion: If Christ is doing all this for you in heaven, what are you doing for Him on earth?
