The anointing is the presence & work of the Holy Spirit in a person’s life.
“The anointing which you received from Him abides in you…” 1 John 2:27
To minister is to serve or help another by the anointing of the Holy Spirit.
“… but our adequacy is from God; who also made us adequate as servants of a new covenant…” 2 Corinthians 3:5-6
Zion is the hill in the Old Testament (in Jerusalem) where God’s presence dwelt. God’s presence is now in His Church (also called Mt. Zion).
“But you have come to Mount Zion, and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem…to the general assembly and church of the firstborn…” Hebrews 12:22, 23
The glory is the manifestation of God’s presence and splendour to the spiritual and physical faculties of man.
“And it came to pass…that the cloud filled the house of the Lord, so that the priests could not stand to minister…for the glory of the Lord filled the house of the Lord.” 1 Kings 8:10, 11
Revelation is the manifestation of God’s will and truths to man.
“For this reason I too … do not cease … making mention of you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him…” Ephesians 1:15-17
Why are musical instruments a part of the worship service?
“Praise Him with trumpet sound; praise Him with harp and lyre. Praise Him with timbrel and dancing. Praise Him with stringed instruments and pipe. Praise Him with loud cymbals: Praise Him with resounding cymbals.” Psalm 150:3-5
Why do we sing choruses & hymns?
“And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit; speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord.” Ephesians 5:18-19
“Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” Colossians 3:16
Why do we have speaking with tongues and interpretation of those tongues in the church?
“Therefore, my brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak in tongues.” 1 Corinthians 14:39
“But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good… to another various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues.” 1 Corinthians 12:7, 10
“I wish that you all spoke in tongues, but even more that you would prophesy: and greater is who prophesies than one who speaks in tongues, unless he interprets, so that the church may receive edifying.” 1 Corinthians 14:5
“If anyone speaks in a tongue, it should be by two or at the most three, and each in turn, and let one interpret.” 1 Corinthians 14:27
Why do we sing in tongues and in English?
“For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful. What is the outcome then? I shall pray with the Spirit, and I shall pray with the mind also: I shall sing with the Spirit, and I shall sing with the mind also.” 1 Corinthians 14:14-15
What is prophecy?
“Pursue love, yet desire earnestly spirituals gifts, but especially that you may prophesy.” 1 Corinthians 14:1
“But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit… to another the effecting of miracles; and to another prophecy.” 1 Corinthians 12:7, 10
“But one who prophesies, speaks to men for edification and exhortation, and consolation.” 1 Corinthians 14:3
Why do we clap our hands?
“O clap your hands, all peoples, shout to God with the voice of joy.” Psalm 47:1
Why do we lift our hands?
“So I will bless Thee as long as I live: I will lift up my hands in Thy name.” Psalm 63:4
“Lift up your hands to the sanctuary and bless the Lord”. Psalm 134:2
“Therefore I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and dissension.” 1 Timothy 2:8
