• The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. JESUS ANOINTED

    Jesus Anointed

    JesusAnointed
“Jesus Christ” means “Jesus anointed.” One Sabbath he told us what he is anointed to do: He got up in the synagogue; the attendant gave him the scroll of Isaiah. He found the place where it is written:

“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me.
    The Lord has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim
    freedom for the captives,
recovery of sight for the blind
    and release for the oppressed:
To proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

    — Jesus Anointed, Luke 4:18-19
Then he gave the scroll back and said, “This scripture is fulfilled today in your hearing.”
In other words, “This is what I am anointed to do.”

“Takin’ care o’ business” is his name.”
Since Jesus says the kingdom of heaven is at hand, if I’m not seeing it there are only two possibilities: Either Jesus is wrong or I am in some way blind.

    The Anointing of Jesus

One of the things Jesus said is that he is anointed to do is to “proclaim … recovery of sight to the blind” (Luke 4:18). Now if I want my sight restored the first thing I need to do is get into his presence. The power of his name reveals his presence and his anointing. This is what the whole book Spirit of Fire is about, but in brief: As you contemplate Jesus — anything about him, from the sole of his sandal to what he said — the presence of God seems to appear. This is the spiritual meaning of recovery of sight to the blind. Physical healing is also available.
