Acts 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
Friends, we are told in Isaiah 10:27 that the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing. Today, you are going home with POWER! In the old testament, kings and priests were anointed in order to be set apart for a special service. David was anointed for a special purpose. There was a prophecy that came about Cyrus even before he was born.

He usually assigns a man to go perform the physical anointing like the way Prophet Samuel anointed David. Today, God will separate you for his glory! Jesus was referred to as “The Anointed One”.
Isaiah 61:1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound
The anointing of God is for a purpose and is not only for pastors. It is for EVERY child of God. Samuel anointed David in the midst of his brethren and from that day forward the spirit of God came mightily upon him. Where you have failed before, you will no longer fail! Before Jesus began ministry, God anointed him. Anointing has a two-fold purpose:
1. It works in us by teaching us God’s ways and conforms us to his likeness
2. It works through us by giving us supernatural abilities to do certain things or a special task.
When the spirit of God is on you, you become a special person. Wherever you go, you radiate the glory of God. The spirit of God empowers people to witness to others very easily not by their own power or strength. God wants us to come back to him. He wants to establish a relationship with him. He wants us to be able to stand in gap for others.
Benefits of the Anointing
1. It brings victory. Saul began to speak in tongues after he encountered God until he disobeyed God. Saul was still living when David was anointed. The spirit of God left Saul around the time David was anointed. When you don’t have the spirit of God, you will be afraid of everything. Mine eye also shall see my desire on mine enemies, and mine ears shall hear my desire of the wicked that rise up against me (Psalm 91:11). The anointing empowers you to face your Goliath which could be joblessness, poverty, lack, etc So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David. Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith. And when the Philistines saw their champion was dead, they fled (1st Samuel 17:50-51). Every enemy of your life will begin to run from you in Jesus’ mighty name!
2. It brings prosperity. The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon (Psalm 92:12). Friends, there is NOTHING on a palm tree that isn’t useful. Palm trees flourish even in very dry conditions and are always looking fresh. As you are anointed today, God will enlighten your darkness and every door you know will be opened unto you!
3. It brings provision. Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee (1st Kings 17:9). God will sustain you in 2013 in Jesus’ name! God planned your life before you were born (Jeremiah 1).
4. It brings favor. And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man (Luke 2:52). When the Israelites left Egypt, they did not go empty. God will surround you with favor as a shield! The anointing drives away fear. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16).
5. It brings protection. And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha (2 Kings 6:16-17). When you are anointed, angels of God are surrounding you!
6. It brings power (Acts 10:38) and healing. So the waters were healed unto this day, according to the saying of Elisha which he spake (2 Kings 2:19). From today, you will no longer drink bitter water in Jesus’ name!
7. It destroys yokes (Isaiah 10:27) and brings the dead to life. Yoke is anything that is causing you sorrow. In Luke 7: 11-14 Jesus had compassion on the widow of Nain whose only son had died. God will restore you tonight! In John 11:39-43, Jesus raised Lazarus who had been dead for four days and was stinking!
PRAYERS
- Father, anoint me with power so that I can go about doing good. Anoint me with fresh fire. Remove oppression from me. Be with me. Give me new strength. Empower me. Give me the spirit of grace and supplication. Destroy every yoke. Take away every evil load from my life.
- Lord, let your spirit of peace come upon me. Give me rest. Let your hand be upon my life. Uproot every evil plantation. Visit me. Let me see you. Let me hear your voice. Don’t let me be put to shame. Be my strong refuge.
- Lord, increase my greatness and comfort me on every side.
